Introduction to the First World War

During the first world war, each and every country had strategies that they employed during the war. These strategies were the strategies that would show how they felt about the war and how they tried to employ each advantage for themselves. For example, the Germans took over nearby France since France is near the center of the Allied powers. On the contrary, countries like Great Britain only defended, and did not take the offensive except to reconquer nearby France.

Why Strategies are Important

By analyzing the strategic standpoints of each country, we are able to realize the way the country prepared and recuperated after the war. They not only have military goals that are expressed in their strategies, they also have economical strategies for after the way.

What were the causes of the war?

There were many causes of the war, each contributing to the great buildup of tension in Europe. One of these buildups was the fight for land in Africa, which Germany, Britain, and France fought for. Another was the tensions from alliances, which caused many of the countries originally not in the war to join the war. The third reason was that when the Archduke went to Serbia, he was assassinated, causing an uproar and the declaration of war.

Why did the United States join the war?

Just like the cause of the war, there were many various reasons the U.S. joined the war. One of the reasons was the sinking of the Lusitania, though this wasn't the main reason, as it occurred a good two years before we joined the war. The main reason was the Zimmerman Telegram. This was a telegram originally sent to Mexico but was intercepted by the British, who gave it to America. It asked Mexico for help should the U.S. join the war, in exchange for American land. This forced the U.S. to declare war on Germany.

Did the war affect the coming of the second world war?

It did, indirectly. Because of the Treaty of Versailles, Germany was burdened with huge military and money issues, making them bitter. When Hitler came along, he used this bitterness to start the second world war.

Summary

In conclusion, this war was one of well developed weapons, one of bloodshed, and one of progress. Each individual country helped the cause of their side, whether Allied or Central. This was the war that brought along the second world war, but it was also the war that set America onto the international stage. The first world war helped the world realize that we needed an "international alliance", therefore creating the League of Nations. However, this war was not a war that brought along nothing but good things. Germany was burdened with extreme financial repairments, causing them to become bitter. This bitterness was one of the main causes of the second world war. However, this was the war that brought America into an era of prosperity, known as the "roaring 20s". It helped people recognize the accomplishments of the Black people, and during this war, the Great Migration occurred.
